Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Fire Officer, assist in the establishment and planning process of a structural fire service for the mission. Command fire units and manage them in all aspects. Prepare (create) training material, lessons and conduct specialized trainings for Fire Officer recruits and for security staff , including trainings on fire engines, technical rescue, fire fighting techniques, tactics etc. Prepare building site plans, building evacuation plans and conduct evacuation drills. Conduct regular fire and safety inspections in the mission facilities, to report all shortcomings and make recommendations to bring the facilities to international fire & safety standards. Conduct fire prevention seminars for UN staff. Perform all types of duties related to the fire service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent. Trainning required: Graduated Fire Chief, (Fire Brigade School/Training Center). Trained Operational / Incident Commander (Municipal Fire Service). Trained as Fire Safety Inspector. Trained as Fire Vehicle Operator (including Aerial vehicles). Trainings in Fire and Rescue, dangerous goods, fire medical assistant, attack team leader. Driving License for heavy vehicles.

Work Experience
At least 10 years of working experience in a fire department as Fire Officer. Experience in commanding positions, like incident commander or team leader within a fire service. Experience in training of Fire Officers, in fire fighting techniques and the operation of fire vehicles. Candidate should be physically fit according to the requirements of the job. Medical and physical qualification for the use of heavy breathing apparatus.

Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English or French; knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage and sometimes a requirement. Fluency in the local language may be essential.
